Cages, Cages, Cages

So, I spent a little bit of time rewriting my cage scripts….. and within the week, all of my lockable cages will be upgraded with some vastly (and I mean vastly) improved scripts/functions. I’ve been out of the cage market for about nine months, as my last released cage was sometime in November 2006. After that….. I wasn’t particularly interested in continuing or expanding the Dictatorshop cage line. I just wanted to work on different types of products and projects. However, Emma took it upon herself to convince me that it would be in my best interest to, at the very least, maintain status quo in the cage market. Of course, anyone who knows me, knows status quo just doesn’t cut it for me….. and when I make a release, it’s never a half assed effort….. when I go for something, it’s a Do or Die mission. So, it goes without saying that the Dictatorshop will once again take command of the cage market with wreckless abandon and unfathomable force!

Of course, those of you who have purchased older models of my lockable cages will be able to trade them in for the upgraded versions (once released) at no charge, as per Dictatorshop policy.

Oh, so many projects….. so little time! I need two or three of me, I really do.

Upcoming LockGuard Contest

I will be announcing the next LockGuard System building contest soon….. and the prize for the contest will be 25,000 L (or about 100 USD).

For those who are unaware, I usually run a building contest every month or so for the LockGuard Particle Chain System and award prizes for the best builds. I don’t judge these contests myself, there are usually three impartial judges picked for each contest who do the judging based on things such as Form, Function, and Features.

What is LockGuard? The LockGuard System is an open source, plug and play particle chain generation system which allows you create and modify particle chains on the fly. LockGuard Particle chains are called by easily customized ID tags, and each chain can be assigned multiple ID tags….. this allows you to call a single LockGuard chain from one object, or multiple chains in a single command. It also allows for pattern-based calls, so you can make some truly unique chaining patterns using the LockGuard System with the minimum amount of effort.

If you’re interested in joining in on the contest, join the LockGuard System group in Second Life and wait for the contest notice. I generally give the group an advance notice of a week or so before the contest starts….. one of the rules is you have to be a member of the LockGuard System to participate anyway. However, there’s no entry fee, no requirements other than basic contest rules, and it’s a good way to par your building/scripting skills with others….. and if you win, it’s a nice bit of change!

So, go pick up the Free LockGuard Dev Kit from the Dictatorshop….. or the Scripter Kit from slexchange.com. Both Kits are 100% open source, and the Dev Kit includes three full permission (including scripts) pieces of furniture.

And no, while LockGuard is primarily used in bondage furniture….. you can enter any kind of object which uses LockGuard in some way.

What are you waiting for? You’ve got nothing to lose!

Loud Day Quiet Night

It stated off hectic, and then reduced itself to near silence. Big Brother was fairly empty in the evening and the night, with very few visitors aside from the housemates themselves. The perfect opportunity to get some scripting done. I’ve been doing what I can to help make the Christmas items come to life, but I’m starting to feel like I’m not doing enough myself to help out. I need to work harder and contribute more of myself in general.

The support for me in Big Brother is phenomenal, and continues to grow with each passing day. I can’t thank them enough….. and I will never forget the support I have been shown.

I’ve given the task of overseeing the LockGuard Contest to Lolita. I have faith, when she can, she’ll do an exceptional job of handling the judging and what not. It’s time to pass out the prize already….. so, come on, Lolita, hop to it! People are anxiously awaiting! It will be awhile before I get to see what the entries were.

On the otherside of things, without being able to go out in the world and buy things, it has really cut down on my shopping habit….. which also means, I’m saving a bundle of L$. I’m also getting a fair amount of scripting done, and with the Christmas items, I’m doing scripting I wouldn’t normally do, so it is honing and sharpening my skill outside of my general area of use…. which is always good to do. I have a few ideas for new products when I get out of Big Brother, and the fun part is….. most of the scripting is already done.

LockGuard Contest

The time is drawing to an end, for the LockGuard contest!

A few entries have already been passed to me for the contest, but I believe there are still some adding the last minute touches to their own. There is a prize up for grabs of 10,000 L. 6,000 L for first place, 3,000 L for second place, and 1,000 L for third place. And only a day remaining to get the entries submitted. The deadline for entries would have been today, but with all the problems Second Life has been experiencing it was necessary to extend for another 24 hours. I have not looked at any of the entries which have been submitted to me….. so, it will be quite exciting to see who has built what….. and who will win the prize.

Last month, Locklear Aoi won with her Tri-Axis Spinner. She won the contest by a landslide.

I couldn’t even venture a guess to as who will win this month’s contest, especially with not having seen any of the entries.

If you’re interested in developing with LockGuard or entering the contest, you can pick up the kit from SL Exchange http://www.slexchange.com
